Access

Siskiyou County prides itself on several community air strips for light aircraft, as well as landing capabilities for larger commercial jets. Jet fuel is available on site as well. Scheduled commercial jet services is available within 65 miles. Yreka, the county seat, is located 22 miles south of the Oregon border on Interstate 5. The historic railroad town of Dunsmuir is 50 miles north of Redding, California.

Overall Description

Long renowned for its pristine beauty, Siskiyou County is the home of 14,162 foot high Mount Shasta and the rocky Castle Crags, as well as numerous scenic rivers. From high mountain lakes, lava beds, virgin forests, and rushing rivers to abandoned mines from the Gold Rush Era and historic homes, it's all here — 6,313 square miles of breathtaking natural beauty.

There are four distinct climates in Siskiyou County. October and February have the most rainfall, with little fog at any time. The surrounding mountains are usually snow-capped from October to May.

With mountains and valleys, dense forest and high desert plateau, Siskiyou County offers an array of American West settings. Located on scenic Interstate 5 at the top of the state of California, five hours north of San Francisco, 90 minutes from the Medford Airport and 60 minutes from the Redding Airport, Siskiyou County is a rich resource for your filmmaking needs.
